Suite for a Bandsman

Description

This five movement work was written in memory of Donald Stanley, professor emeritus of Mansfield University. Stanley was a tuba player and conductor who served as the music department chair for many years at MU while conducting the school’s Concert Wind Ensemble.  Written for, and premiered by, the 55th reunion ensemble under the composer’s baton, Suite for a Bandsman is a salute to the life of a dedicated musician, teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend. Each movement of the work is a sketch of one aspect of Mr. Stanley’s life and loves, from model trains, to dogs, to Volkswagon Beatles!
